Their Stories Remain

In honor of the 25th Year of Remembrance of September 11th, The Seeing Place presents 110 Stories, a powerful documentary play woven from the real words of survivors, first responders, family members, and ordinary citizens whose lives were forever changed on September 11, 2001.

Their unflinching stories take us back to when 9/11 was unimaginable, capturing the shock and horror of the day as well as the resilience of New York City in the tragedy's aftermath, and the hope that humanity can rise from the ashes.

Through a tapestry of firsthand accounts, the play moves beyond headlines and history books to reveal the courage, grief, compassion, and resilience that emerged in the face of unimaginable loss.

110 STORIES has been performed by actors including Ed Asner, Billy Crudup, Catherine Curtin, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Edie Falco, James Gandolfini, Neil Patrick Harris, John Hawkes, Jessica Hecht, Jon Heder, Katie Holmes, Samuel L. Jackson, Sharon Lawrence, Melissa Leo, Aasif Mandvi, Katharine McPhee, James McCaffrey, Cynthia Nixon, Tonya Pinkins, Jeremy Piven, Jay O. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: We are seeking men and women of all backgrounds, ethnicities, and life experiences, ages 18 and older, to bring to life the real voices of the people whose stories are told in 110 Stories. This ensemble-based production portrays survivors, first responders, family members, workers, and everyday citizens whose lives were forever changed by the events of September 11, 2001.

ABOUT THE PLAY: 110 Stories is a documentary play presented in the style of reader’s theater. Rather than portraying fictional characters, actors serve as storytellers, giving voice to the real experiences of survivors, first responders, family members, workers, and everyday citizens affected by the events of September 11, 2001.

This production relies on authenticity, active listening, ensemble connection, and strong storytelling skills. While actors will perform with scripts in hand, rehearsals will focus on developing truthful, compelling performances that honor the real people whose words are being shared.

Because the play is built around a communal experience, cast members should expect to be fully present and engaged throughout the performance, listening and responding to one another’s stories with the same care and attention they bring to their own.

WHAT TO PREPARE: When you sign up for auditions, an audition packet will be immediately available to download and will be emailed to you. A full rehearsal schedule is also included in your audition packet.
