The word theatre comes from the Greeks.
It means the seeing place.

This winter, we return to the heart of what theater can be: a quiet room, an honest story, and the courage to sit with what is true. Through intimate productions that explore love, loss, healing, and unexpected grace, we are choosing a season of soft beginnings and gentle restoration. In the stillness of winter, we invite you to join us in rediscovering beauty, hope, and the simple power of storytelling.
Welcome to The Seeing Place.
THE CURIOUS SAVAGE
A warm-hearted comedy where “crazy” might just be another word for courageous.
When Ethel Savage inherits a fortune from her late husband, she makes a shocking decision: give it away.
While her ambitious stepchildren, a socialite, a senator, and a judge, scheme to protect the family wealth, they commit Ethel to The Cloisters, a quiet home that feels more like a sanctuary than a mental institution.
But inside The Cloisters, Ethel discovers a community of imaginative, tenderhearted residents whose warmth and wisdom challenge everything the outside world calls “normal.”
As her stepchildren scramble to find where she has hidden the money, Ethel must decide what and who truly matters.
Warm, witty, and delightfully unexpected, The Curious Savage is a charming comedy about fortune, family, and finding home in the most unlikely places.

ONCE ON THIS ISLAND
What kind of love has the power
to break down walls between us?
From the Tony Award-winning songwriting team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Seussical, Ragtime), comes the Olivier Award-winning Once on This Island. This highly original and theatrical Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale, The Little Mermaid, garnered eight Tony nominations for its Broadway run, including Best Musical, Book, and Score.
Once on This Island is an ensemble-driven musical told through the voices of a community of storytellers. Framed as a fable, the story unfolds as villagers gather to share the tale of Ti Moune. Ti Moune is a young girl whose life, love, and sacrifice shape the future of her island.
This musical is based on Rosa Guy’s novel My Love, My Love and Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid. It takes a familiar story, love that crosses boundaries, and sets it in a vibrant island culture. At its heart, it’s about two people from different worlds, and the walls that can stand between us.
Coming to The Seeing Place Mainstage for the first time in 12 years, Once On This Island will transport you to a magical world where the audience is a part of the story.
