Before the Musical . . . there was the book, the story, the legend.

Before Andrew Lloyd Weber wrote the famous musical, Gaston Leroux wrote The Phantom of the Opera in 1909, and the legend began.

Beneath the glittering stage of the Paris Opera House, a brilliant and disfigured musical genius lives in shadow.

Feared and whispered about as a “phantom,” he secretly guides the voice of a young soprano, Christine Daaé, helping her rise to stardom. But as admiration turns to obsession, the Phantom’s longing for love and belonging spirals into jealousy, control, and heartbreak.

Set against the grandeur of the opera house, a world driven by performance, ambition, and applause, The Phantom of the Opera explores what happens when talent is celebrated but the human heart is unseen.

Dark, romantic, and deeply human, this powerful play asks timeless questions about identity, rejection, and the cost of living behind a mask.

The world’s most famous musical is coming to Summer on Stage!

Les Misérables is the world’s longest-running musical. It is a true modern classic based on Victor Hugo's novel and featuring one of the most memorable scores of all time.

In nineteenth-century France, Jean Valjean is released from nineteen years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a lifelong struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean's adopted daughter.

Epic, grand, and uplifting, Les Misérables School Edition packs an emotional wallop that has thrilled audiences worldwide. We are honored to bring this emotional musical to the students at The Pillars Youth Theater.

WHO: We are casting 27 exceptional singers for this completely sung-through musical. Please note: the entire musical is sung.

We are casting:

  • 2 girls ages 7-11

  • 2 boys ages 7-11

  • 23 male and female students ages 12-18.

    • As per our agreement with Music Theater International, no one over the age of 18 may audition.

We are looking for strong singers and actors to portray the iconic characters in this epic musical.

NOTE ON CONTENT: Les Misérables is a powerful story of grace, redemption, and justice set in 19th-century France, and while this is the School Edition, it includes mature themes such as poverty, injustice, mild language, and elements of war, death, and prostitution. At The Seeing Place, all material is handled with care and sensitivity and is never presented gratuitously; however, the script is licensed through Music Theatre International and must be performed as written. If you have any questions or would like to better understand the content, we welcome you to listen to the soundtrack or reach out directly.

DATES: Auditions are June 17 and 18.

  • Auditions for Les Misérables School Edition will be held in assigned time slots rather than as one large group.

  • You select your time slot below when you fill out our audition form. Please be sure you check your schedule, as we will not be able to change times once you sign up.

  • Each audition block will include a small group of approximately 5 students and will last about 30 minutes. This allows for a more focused, low-pressure environment for each student.

SHOW DATES: July 23-25 at 7:00 pm.

REHEARSALS: Summer on Stage is a full-day program.

  • The first day of rehearsals is Monday, June 29th. The last day is July 25th.

  • Rehearsals run daily from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM, Monday-Friday.

  • Full attendance is required.

  • This is an intensive process for a large-scale production, and participation requires complete commitment from every student.

PARTICIPATION FEE:

  • If cast in an acting role, the participation fee is: $300

    • Family Rate: Each additional sibling participating in the same production is $250.

  • If cast in a student leadership role (student director, stage manager, design leads, etc.), the participation fee is: $225

  • Because The Pillars Youth Theater is a non-profit, volunteer-led program, students cast in the production contribute a participation fee to help cover the production's direct costs.

REGISTER: When you register at the form below, you will receive an audition packet via email, our Pillars Student/Parent Handbook, and a confirmation of your audition date and time.
